Tell us about yourself and your beautiful project.
My husband and I designed our NYC home from just a piece of paper and pencil. Our goal was to create a space that focused on a modern farmhouse style, specifically combining neutral colors with clean lines and a cozy charming feel. My goal was to create a bright space that incorporated functionality. A white kitchen with champagne brass pulls and handles produced a magnificent combination of farmhouse feels with a modern twist We wanted our kitchen to be something special. Our Amish cabinetmaker really put our dream kitchen to life, but we wanted to compliment his masterpiece with the perfect fixture – the Atlas Successi Cup Pulls and Sutton Place Cup Pulls in Champagne fulfilled just that.
Since you designed your own kitchen, where did you go for new ideas and inspiration?
Social media has been the number one source of new ideas and inspiration. From top interior decorators to the woman next door curating her home to perfection is what inspires me. Social media platforms have come such a long way to create paths to express your talents. I mainly utilize Instagram and Pinterest.
Which design trends are you most excited about this year?
Velvet and other rich textiles! This type of fabric is making a comeback and I couldn’t be more excited! It brings a luxurious feel to the space with a pop of color, so I will definitely be embracing this trend!
What’s trending in NYC design?
One of the biggest trends I’ve noticed for 2019 is the incorporation of bright colors! I’m typically a neutral-toned girl, but when it comes to bright colors, I’m cautiously curious. This design trend is one I will be also taking a leap towards to brighten up some of my rooms throughout my home with color tones I typically steer clear of.
What’s the best interior design lesson you have learned?
Take your time! Especially if this is your own, personal space and you are able to. I design my best rooms with the combination of research and trial/error with specific products. You never know what it’s going to look like until it’s actually seen in your space, and not liking something is perfectly okay!
Which design trends are you most excited about this year?
I feel like a huge trend this year has been accented walls in dark colors, wallpaper, or wood design. I'm all for that. I love the dramatic look that a dark wall or wallpaper can bring to a room. I feel like every room needs an accent wall or feature.
